Disney Infinity games and toy line launch delayed to August 2013

Disney is postponing the release date of their new video game Infinity to August. The sandbox game, which was to be released in June, will now hit North America on August 18. Of course, developers of the game say that the two month delay will give them time to polish the game further.

The reason for the delay given is attributed to pressure from retailers who want the launch to be closer to the holiday selling season, and also the release of the next version of Skylanders (launched earlier in 2011).

Developers of the game say that Infinity has been inspired by the Skylanders concept of action figures interacting in video games. Disney has a rich toy collection from its various brands and franchises.

Disney has revealed that the game coming in a typical Skylanders style will feature 30 toy Disney figures that will give access to various characters and levels in the game. Players will have to buy toys of characters featured in the video game.

Avalanche Software has developed the game and the technology is based on their video game product, the Toy Story. The game will be compatible with Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, WiiU, 3DS, mobile and PC. It will have a starter kit comprising of the Infinity Base, three figures – Mr Incredible, Sully and Jack Sparrow, a play set and power token.

How it works
There are two modes of the game: a play set and a toy box. Each play set is based on a movie or series with characters and story plots. However the various characters belonging to one world will not be allowed to enter another world. But, players can always place any character in the toy box mode. In the toy box, players can personalize the characters and explore too.

In the game, there is an electronic unit where Infinity will permit players to place physical Disney character figures and interact with the characters in the video game. Interaction will happen through controls in console gaming systems like Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii-U, Xbox 360, PS3 and PCs.

When the plastic toy characters are placed in the ‘Disney Infinity Base’ units, players will collect characters, gadgets and upgrades; store them in the ‘toy box.’ Once this is done, players can create storylines and characters.

This game from Disney and Pixar, will include characters from ‘Monsters, Inc,’ Pirates of the Caribbean, and ‘The Incredibles.’

Hug and Kiss ‘em & Hold ‘em close to you!

From the moment I conceived, it was my fantasy to have a super tactile bond with my child after he/she would be born (for the longest possible time, I felt it would be a girl!). After my son was born, things became different and the first three months were extremely painful feeding him or holding him thanks to my C-section stitches. So all maternal feelings vanished into thin air and all I could think was sleep or having “me-time”.  There was hardly a chance to cuddle up with him! Post partum depression had hit me big time and me not being able to calm down a screaming infant had dipped my morale too. Motherhood was nothing like I had imagined it would be! Besides I was terrified that my son would not accept me if I didn’t develop a bond early on. Of course, that did not happen. It was a mom’s fear that had spoken. After he entered the infamous toddler phase, I became the quintessential “villain” for my son – the usual don’t do this and that. Yet again, my dreams of becoming...

BPOs don multiple hats...

Till the advent of the computers, all papers and legal documents of every company were filed, stored and catalogued systematically in the form of files stacked in cabinets. If one had to access any of the data, they would have to employ people for the same work. Small and big organizations had to employ extra manpower if they wanted additional help regarding verification of financial transactions and company expansion activities. Outsourcing of jobs was unknown to many in the pre-digital era. Though, the system of awarding contracts to a third party for making machinery parts had begun long ago. Slowly, but steadily, organizations began understanding that they need to outsource other jobs as well, to increase the productivity of their company as well as performance of employees. They started creating strategies for to outsource their business to other companies, minimizing their own labor costs. The term business process outsourcing or BPO caught on with organizations, which start...
