Experience Hendrix, a corporate entity looked after by Janie
Hendrix, the step sister of Jimi, recently announced the release of its latest
posthumous offering from the Jimi vault, People,
Hell and Angels. This is a compilation
of one of his several unreleased records.
The legendary guitarist/singer, who died young at 27, has been the inspiration for his sister to archive his music and create a musical vault in his name at the Experience Hendrix. In Janie’s words, “He's a timeless artist and the technology's finally caught up to what he was trying to do musically. People are still hungry for real music and good songs, and Jimi was a great songwriter and one of the greatest guitarists of all time”.

People, Hell and
Angels is a compilation of 12 unreleased studio performances of the great
music legend. It also includes ‘newly
struck’ mono vinyl editions of his early classic albums Are You
Experienced and Axis: Bold As Love. The album
is one in a tribute series of albums, films, tours and books following Hendrix’s
death in London in 1970. It also exceeds the number of studio albums that he
had composed and released in his own short lifespan.
An American musician, singer and songwriter belonging to a mixed genealogy of African American, Irish, and Cherokee ancestors, Jimi managed to carve a place for himself in people’s hearts. He introduced and also popularized the guitar amplifier feedback or the acoustic feedback audio system in guitaring. The Jimi Hendrix Experience was enshrined into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and the UK Hall of Fame in 2005. His non-posthumous studio albums Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold as Love, and Electric Ladyland were ranked among the top 100 songs by the Rolling Stone magazine. Are You Experienced was first released in the UK in May 1967. The album reached number 2 in the UK charts that year.
Hendrix formed a new band in 1966, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, with English guitarist-turned-bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. Axis: Bold as Love was the Jimi Hendrix Experience's second album in 1967. This album was his first recording that was composed for stereo release. He used panning and other stereo effects. Electric Ladyland was Hendrix’s third recording in 1968 and described as his ‘masterpiece’ by a leading magazine, at the time.
