Beware of 'Best Offers' online!

If you intend to buy an electronic gadget, be it a cell phone, laptop, tablet, PC or a television, the first thing you will do is to compare prices on either a website or visit the showrooms in person. People will tell you to wait for the best offers to come, but you need not wait for a festival to approach in order to get the best deals. The reason is because the best offers on electronics are available these days on most buying and selling websites.

There are sites like Amazon and eBay where you can bid for the lowest prices on any electronic gadget and walk away with the gadget of your choice. Gone are those days where you would have to wait for two to three months for the manufacturers to reduce the prices. In addition, the warranty period remains the same on these online purchases. So you need not worry whether you are making the right choice by going online to buy electronic gadgets. The standard labels are also maintained on all these devices. So, the early bird gets the best online offers.

Websites even have a countdown system where the price bidding begins and ends in seconds. You could either bag or lose the best offers online if you happen to miss the bidding alert that is sent to email subscribers of most of these websites. And market semantics say that the faster you enter the bidding game, the best daily offers you will get.

Television advertisements and online teasers on these bids are also responsible for garnering a huge market for the sale of electronic gadgets and also attracted millions to treat themselves with a new gadget almost every month. Most online bids have been designed to be pocket friendly. So, a lot of the younger generation, especially the college-going generation are participating in similar bids.

When there can be bids to buy laptops and PCs, cameras cannot be left far behind. Leading buying and selling sites are also selling cameras, especially the high-end digital SLR cameras. The lens can be individually purchased on the same lines. Most websites have comparative prices of all leading brands selling cameras, displayed on their website. So, in order to get best deal cameras, you can avail the offers and discounts, which are being offered while you can.

So, how do you make a choice between all the special offers on electronics that are available online?

There are some simple tips to be followed:
•    Make a checklist of what you are looking for in a product
•    Choose your brand (reading brochures may help)
•    Look for any extraordinary features (technology-based or visual appeal) in the product
•    Check various websites for offers (try browsing leading websites)
•    Look for the starred conditions in the website while buying the product (for example, hidden charges, taxes and legal terms)
•    Verify all documents before making the purchase, including the warranty period and servicing locations.
•    True friends can never cheat you. So definitely consult them before you take the final leap!

Gone are the days when you visited a shop, took the gadget in your hand and checked it thoroughly for defects and other features. Now, it is just a delivery man who will deliver a completely sealed cardboard box at your doorstep, without giving you the chance to check the gadget or device you received.

The only guarantee may be that you may have to send back the gadget to the company if there is any defect. Thanks to best offers on electronics available online, these are the few side effects you have to bear while doing online shopping.

Hug and Kiss ‘em & Hold ‘em close to you!

From the moment I conceived, it was my fantasy to have a super tactile bond with my child after he/she would be born (for the longest possible time, I felt it would be a girl!). After my son was born, things became different and the first three months were extremely painful feeding him or holding him thanks to my C-section stitches. So all maternal feelings vanished into thin air and all I could think was sleep or having “me-time”.  There was hardly a chance to cuddle up with him! Post partum depression had hit me big time and me not being able to calm down a screaming infant had dipped my morale too. Motherhood was nothing like I had imagined it would be! Besides I was terrified that my son would not accept me if I didn’t develop a bond early on. Of course, that did not happen. It was a mom’s fear that had spoken. After he entered the infamous toddler phase, I became the quintessential “villain” for my son – the usual don’t do this and that. Yet again, my dreams of becoming...

Push the "Fight, not flight button"!!

September 10 marks World Suicide Prevention day every year! This day began to be observed in 2003. Every individual has either undergone some trauma or been undergoing a bad experience over a period of time.  The pandemic has worsened the situation, isolating people more. Work-from-home jobs, no-socializing, and no-human touch have increased cases of depression, and suicide has become a common buzzword now. Counselling centres are buzzing with ever ringing telephone lines and more people reaching out to counsellors, parenting coaches and life coaches for help. Everyone has been affected - celebs to commoners - none have been spared of depression. Social media is abuzz with videos of experts giving tips on happiness and gurus conducting wellness sessions.
