Director: Jis Joy
Starring Asif Ali, Salim Kumar, Aparna Gopinath, Devan, Sai Kumar, Bineesh, Rahul Madhav, Vijay Babu
Just like the title of the film, the story revolves around four friends who are bicycle thieves. Bose (Salim Kumar), Rahim (Bineesh) and Ramesh (Rahul Madhav) run a stolen bicycle business. Chacko (Asif Ali) has lost his parents in a tragedy and is living with his uncle's family who treat him like a servant. One morning, the 11 yr-old Chacko steals his cousin's brand new cycle and escapes from home. He lands at Bose's garage where he sees myriad cycles and is totally fascinated by the sight. He agrees to join the trio in stealing bicycles and reselling them. The foursome make a lot of money in the business. However they begin to get bored and look for bigger moolah. Enters Matthews (Devan) who approaches them with a tempting offer. As part of the deal, he asks them to kidnap his boss Pattanaswamy (Sai Kumar) and steal a sum of 3 crore from him. In return, he promises to give them half of the stolen booty. From here on, the movie takes several twists and turns, rewarding you an unexpected climax.
Debutante director Jis Joy has done well to choose his cast who share a sparkling on-screen chemistry. Aparna Gopinath (from malayalam movie ABCD fame) who plays Asif Ali's love interest also brings a significant twist to the tale. The entry of Vijay Babu as Kashinathan is like an icing on the cake, changing the movie's course completely. Watch out for the performances of Asif Ali, Vijay Babu and Aparna. Set in the city of Kochi, the dialect and cinematography complement the plot. KPAC Lalitha does justice to her role
as Aparna's aged landlady who cries each time she listens to the song 'Ayiram kannumai kathirunnu'. Soundtracks have been well-timed and beautiful. Deepak Dev's music is pleasing to the ears, especially 'Punjiri thanchum' and 'Mele Vaanile' touch the soul.
The director should be lauded for his maiden efforts in creating this racy romantic and entertaining comedy through a well-scripted plot that will keep you glued to your seat even when the bell for interval rings and lights come on. Each character is well-crafted and can be related to in real life. Do watch it if you want a good laugh and a healthy dose of suspense with a dash of light romance.
